BAE lands £146m contract to modernise American warship

According to a recent article published in ukdefencejournal.org.in, BAE Systems’ San Diego shipyard will undertake a major project involving the dry-docking of a 509-foot #warship for critical #maintenance and system #upgrades. The project includes essential hull maintenance as well as upgrades to key onboard #systems.

The warship’s Aegis combat system will be enhanced with the latest Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Programme (Block 3), and its command-and-control systems will also receive significant upgrades. Additionally, the living quarters for the 260 sailors on board will be refurbished to improve their conditions during deployment.

The work is expected to continue through 2026.
